New Delhi: Senior cricket journalist Boria Majumdar has been found guilty in the Indian senior wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha text case following which he is likely to face a two-year ban from covering matches.
According to reports, the BCCI inquiry committee took the decision on Saturday at the meeting.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had constituted a three-member committee in February to investigate the case which includes Vice President Rajiv Shukla, Treasurer Arun Singh Dhumal, and Apex Council member Prabhtej Singh Bhatia.
"We will inform all the state units of the Cricket Board of India not to allow him inside the stadium. He will not be given media recognition for domestic matches and we will also write to ICC to blacklist him,'' media reports quoted a senior official of BCCI as saying.
Saha had earlier posted a series of tweets on February 23 against an unnamed journalist, accusing him of threatening him over Whatsapp. The said journalist then accused Saha of doctoring the Whatsapp screenshots. It was later disclosed that it was Majumdar.
"After all of my contributions to Indian cricket...this is what I face from a so-called "Respected" journalist! This is where the journalism has gone," Saha had tweeted.
"You did not call. Never again will I interview you. I don`t take insults kindly. And I will remember this," read one of the messages which had shocked the cricketing world.
According to the BCCI official, Saha eventually identified Majumdar as the journalist in question when he came in front of the committee.
Meanwhile, Majumdar accused the cricketer of "doctoring" the screenshots of the WhatsApp messages he had posted on Twitter and later shared with the committee," further said the report.
